A Lifetime in Craft.
Studio Ceramics in Brighton

MEET THE ARTIST

JOHN DUNN

I have spent a lifetime making and exhibiting work. Today my practice is centred on ceramics, developed from my studio in Brighton where I continue to produce new work.

Over the past decade, clay has become my primary material. Much of the work is Japanese inspired, reflecting a long interest in the balance of form, surface and material that has guided my practice throughout my career.

FROM GLASS TO CLAY

Earlier in my career I established an international reputation for kiln-formed glass. My vibrant, iridescent dishes and large-scale pieces were widely exhibited and are held in public and private collections around the world.

Today my ceramic work focuses particularly on large Raku dishes, using techniques I have developed and refined over many years. These Japanese-influenced pieces have become a distinctive part of my current practice.

My ceramics are exhibited and available through The Open Studios on Brighton seafront. Visits to my home studio can also be arranged by prior appointment.

TESTIMONIALS

Hi John
Nicole and I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the weekend.

We have been totally unbearable so far at work today dragging people into our office to look at the display we are showing. Both of us agreed that this was one of the best weekends EVER and our head teacher is really keen to try and get something going at school - but we seriously need to think about that one

Anyway, just wanted to say you were a brilliant tutor and we can't wait for our delivery.
